Job Description
Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mason to join our dedicated facilities and maintenance team at our Agbara Industrial Estate complex. This is an exceptional opportunity for a meticulous and robust individual to contribute to the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of our expansive industrial facilities. As a Mason, you will be instrumental in a variety of construction and repair projects, ensuring that all brickwork, blockwork, concrete, plastering, and tiling are executed to the highest standards of quality and safety. Your role will involve both new construction endeavors and crucial maintenance activities, ranging from repairing damaged walls, laying foundations, constructing partitions, to applying finishes that withstand the demands of an industrial environment.
We are looking for a professional who possesses an acute eye for detail, a deep understanding of building codes and safety regulations, and the ability to work independently or as part of a larger construction crew. You will be expected to interpret blueprints and technical drawings, calculate material requirements accurately, and utilize a range of hand and power tools efficiently and safely. Your craftsmanship will directly impact the operational efficiency and long-term durability of our infrastructure, playing a critical role in supporting our continuous production goals. Key Responsibilities
- Lay bricks, blocks, and stone to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, and other structures.
- Mix mortar, concrete, and other materials using appropriate ratios and techniques.
- Cut and trim bricks or blocks to specification using hand and power tools.
- Apply plaster, stucco, and other finishes to walls and ceilings.
- Install and repair tiles on floors, walls, and other surfaces.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and dimensions.
- Measure and mark surfaces to lay out work according to established codes and standards.
- Ensure the quality and durability of all work, adhering to safety protocols and building regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, properly storing tools and materials.
- Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and team members on various projects.
- Identify and report any structural issues or potential hazards promptly.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in laying bricks, blocks, and stone.
- Expertise in mixing and applying mortar and concrete.
- Skilled in plastering, rendering, and tiling.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of construction safety standards and procedures.
- Competence in using a variety of hand and power tools common to masonry work.
- Excellent physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Attention to detail and precision in all tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade test certificate in Masonry or Blocklaying/Bricklaying.
