Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team at the Airdrie Community Health Centre. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in a vibrant community setting, contributing directly to the health and wellness of our local population. As an RN, you will be instrumental in providing direct patient care, conducting thorough health assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and educating patients and their families on various health topics, including chronic disease management, preventive care, and healthy lifestyle choices. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating effectively with physicians, allied health professionals, and other healthcare providers to ensure holistic, integrated, and continuous care. This role requires a strong commitment to patient advocacy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to diverse patient needs and cultural backgrounds. Your critical thinking and astute clinical judgment will be essential in managing complex cases, responding effectively to various health challenges within the community, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for individuals and families in a community health setting.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and manage various medical procedures as per established protocols, professional standards, and scope of practice.
- Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, disease prevention, medication management, self-care strategies, and navigating the healthcare system.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, social workers, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and confidential patient records, documenting all assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with AHS and provincial regulatory requirements.
- Participate in community health initiatives, health promotion programs, disease surveillance activities, and public health education campaigns.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring ethical considerations and patient rights are respected and upheld at all times, providing support and resources as needed.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts and adherence to all health and safety regulations within the facility.
Required Skills
- Current active registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or eligibility to obtain.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated clinical proficiency in patient assessment, medication administration, wound care, and other essential nursing procedures.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, essential for effective patient education and team collaboration.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and sound clinical judgment to manage diverse patient needs and complex health situations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic community health environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems (e.g., Connect Care) and general computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of recent experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in a community health, primary care, home care, or acute care setting.
- Experience with health promotion and education for diverse populations and age groups.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is an asset.
- Experience working within the Alberta Health Services system and understanding of its operational procedures.
