Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical power, lighting, control systems, and associated electrical equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices and methodologies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine wiring layouts and ensure accurate installations.
- Connect electrical power to residential, commercial, and industrial equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components to extend their lifespan and prevent breakdowns.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and local safety regulations.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Install conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables, maintaining organized and secure wiring.
- Lead and mentor junior electricians or apprentices when applicable, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
- Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and other trades on project status and technical issues.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and consistently.
Required Skills
- Journeyman Electrician certification/Red Seal endorsement in New Brunswick.
- Minimum 3 years of post-apprenticeship experience as a licensed Electrician.
- In-depth knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and local electrical regulations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex electrical systems.
- Ability to work safely with various electrical tools and testing equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and client interaction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial and industrial electrical systems, in addition to residential.
- Certification in specific electrical safety training (e.g., Arc Flash, confined space).
- Experience with smart home technologies or building automation systems.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience leading a small team or mentoring apprentices on site.
