Key Responsibilities
- Operate various heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and other construction machinery safely and efficiently.
- Perform daily pre-operation checks, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment, reporting any defects or necessary repairs promptly.
- Excavate, backfill, grade, and level earth to specifications, ensuring accurate measurements and adherence to project plans.
- Load and unload materials, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure transport.
- Monitor ground conditions and machine performance to identify potential hazards and optimize operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure project timelines are met.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions as required.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience operating heavy construction equipment.
- Valid provincial Heavy Equipment Operator certification and/or relevant licenses.
- Strong understanding of excavation, grading, and material handling techniques.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and survey markers.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience with GPS-guided equipment systems.
- Clean driver’s abstract and valid G driver’s license.
