Are you a highly skilled and passionate Naval Architect ready to shape the future of maritime engineering? Chantier Davie Canada Inc. is **hiring now** for a talented and experienced Naval Architect to join our growing team in Lévis, Quebec. As a Naval Architect, you will play a pivotal role in the design, analysis, and optimization of various vessel types, ensuring they meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze vessel designs, including hull forms, structural arrangements, stability, and hydrodynamics.
  • Prepare detailed technical specifications, drawings, and calculations in accordance with project requirements and classification rules.
  • Conduct complex engineering analyses, including finite element analysis (FEA), hydrostatics, and stability assessments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, structural) to integrate various systems into vessel designs.
  • Provide technical support and expertise during the construction, outfitting, and testing phases of vessels.
  • Ensure designs comply with national and international maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL, Classification Society Rules).
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and problem-solving sessions.
  • Innovate and identify opportunities for design improvements and cost-effective solutions.
  • Document design decisions, processes, and analyses accurately and comprehensively.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a Naval Architect in shipbuilding or marine design.
  • Proficiency with naval architecture software (e.g., AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, Rhinoceros, Maxsurf, NAPA, Tribon).
  • Strong understanding of marine engineering principles, vessel stability, and structural design.
  • Knowledge of international maritime regulations and classification society rules.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (French is a significant asset).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Naval Architecture or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license in Canada or eligibility for registration.
  • Experience with defense projects or specialized vessel types (e.g., icebreakers, offshore platforms, ferries).
  • Proficiency in French.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and advanced CAD software beyond basic proficiency.
