Job Description

Are you passionate about sharing the vibrant traditions and heartwarming stories of Rwanda with visitors from around the globe? Red Rocks Initiative, a leading community and conservation organization nestled near the breathtaking Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri, is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Cultural Village Host to join our dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity to become the face of authentic Rwandan culture, connecting guests with our rich heritage, traditions, and the daily lives of our community members. As a Cultural Village Host, you will be instrumental in curating unforgettable immersive experiences. From the moment guests arrive, you will be their guide and storyteller, introducing them to our traditional dances, music, local cuisine preparations, craft-making workshops, and the profound historical significance of our village. You will lead engaging tours, explain the meaning behind various cultural practices, and foster genuine interactions between visitors and the local community, ensuring every guest leaves with a deeper understanding and appreciation for Rwanda’s enduring spirit. This role requires more than just guiding; it demands a true cultural ambassador—someone who can bridge worlds, foster mutual respect, and ignite a passion for conservation through community empowerment. You will help showcase the symbiotic relationship between our cultural preservation efforts and the protection of the natural environment, particularly the endangered mountain gorillas. The ideal candidate will possess an innate ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating exceptional communication skills, a warm demeanor, and a deep, nuanced understanding of Rwandan customs and traditions. You will be a source of local knowledge, sharing tales of our ancestors, the significance of our ceremonies, and the resilience of our people. Your role is vital in promoting sustainable tourism practices that directly benefit the local population, ensuring that our cultural heritage is celebrated, preserved, and passed down to future generations. Join us in making a tangible difference, inspiring awe, and leaving a lasting positive impression on every visitor who steps into our cultural village.
