Egerton University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Livestock Feed Producer to join our dynamic agricultural team in Njoro. Key Responsibilities
- Formulate balanced and cost-effective feed rations for various livestock categories based on nutritional requirements and available raw materials.
- Operate and maintain feed production machinery, including grinders, mixers, pelletizers, and storage systems.
- Source, inspect, and manage inventory of raw materials for feed production, ensuring quality, availability, and cost-efficiency.
- Implement and adhere to stringent quality control procedures for raw materials, in-process feeds, and finished products.
- Conduct regular sampling and testing of feed to ensure compliance with nutritional specifications and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate production records, inventory logs, and quality control documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with animal husbandry staff and researchers to optimize feed programs and address specific nutritional challenges.
- Identify and troubleshoot operational issues with feed production equipment and coordinate necessary repairs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of sustainable feed production practices.
