Safaricom PLC is seeking a dedicated IT Support Technician to join our team in Karuri, Kenya. In this pivotal role, you will be the frontline technical expert, providing essential on-site and remote IT support to our valued local business clients and internal operational teams within the Karuri area. Key Responsibilities
- Provide first and second-level technical support for hardware, software, and network issues for local business clients.
- Install, configure, and maintain workstations, laptops, printers, and other peripheral equipment.
- Perform routine network troubleshooting, including diagnosing connectivity issues, configuring routers, switches, and Wi-Fi access points.
- Assist clients with the setup and configuration of business applications and Safaricom enterprise solutions.
- Conduct proactive maintenance and upgrades of IT systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Document all support activities, resolutions, and configurations accurately in the ticketing system.
- Educate users on IT best practices, new technologies, and security awareness.
- Collaborate with senior IT staff and other departments to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Manage inventory of IT assets and ensure compliance with company policies.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in IT support or a similar technical role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10, Server 2016/2019) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN).
- Experience with hardware troubleshooting and repair (desktops, laptops, printers).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the Karuri/Kiambu region for on-site support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud services (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace).
- Familiarity with various business-specific software applications.
- Knowledge of mobile device management (MDM) solutions.
- Experience with VoIP systems and basic telecommunications infrastructure.
