Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repair services for a diverse range of makes and models.
- Utilise advanced diagnostic equipment and tools to identify and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Execute preventative maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and brake inspections.
- Repair or replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.
- Maintain detailed records of all services performed, parts used, and issues identified.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding vehicle status, repair options, and estimated costs.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the workshop.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques.
- Keep the workspace clean, organised, and tidy.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Auto Mechanic in a professional workshop setting.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using automotive diagnostic equipment and tools.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical, brakes, and suspension.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant NQF Level 4 or higher qualification in Automotive Mechanics.
- ASE Certification or equivalent international certifications.
- Experience with Bosch diagnostic systems (e.g., KTS) is a significant advantage.
- Specialised training or certifications in specific vehicle brands or advanced automotive technologies (e.g., hybrid, EV).
- Customer service experience in a workshop environment.
