Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse to join our vibrant team at Elim Med Clinic. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to work in a community-focused clinic environment, delivering essential healthcare services to a diverse patient population. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation, working closely with doctors and other healthcare professionals. You will be instrumental in providing direct patient care, administering medications, performing minor procedures, offering health education, and maintaining accurate patient records. We are looking for an individual who is not only clinically proficient but also possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, empathy, and a strong commitment to patient advocacy. This role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting, manage multiple priorities, and respond effectively to various medical situations. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and current symptoms.
  • Administer medications safely and accurately as prescribed by the medical doctor.
  • Perform various nursing procedures such as wound care, injections, vaccinations, and basic laboratory tests.
  • Assist doctors during examinations, minor surgeries, and other medical procedures.
  • Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families on disease management, preventative care, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and compliant with clinic policies and SANC regulations.
  • Monitor patient progress, observe changes in health status, and report critical information to the medical doctor.
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies, providing first aid and initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic and coordinated patient care.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe clinical environment.

Required Skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current SANC registration
  • Proven clinical expertise in general nursing practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for record keeping
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Compassion, empathy, and a patient-centered approach to care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of post-basic nursing experience, preferably in a clinic or hospital setting.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Familiarity with local health programs and community health initiatives in Limpopo.
  • Proficiency in local languages such as Tsonga, Sepedi, or Venda is highly advantageous.
