Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Farm Manager to oversee the comprehensive operations of our agricultural property in Mashishing, Mpumalanga. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and manage daily farm operations, including planting, irrigation, harvesting, and pest control for crops.
- Oversee the health, welfare, and production of livestock, including breeding programmes, feeding, and veterinary care.
- Develop and manage farm budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure cost-effective resource allocation.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate farm staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain and repair farm machinery, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Implement and monitor sustainable farming practices, including soil conservation, water management, and biodiversity preservation.
- Keep accurate records of all farm activities, including production data, financial transactions, and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with all local and national agricultural laws, regulations, and environmental standards.
- Analyse market trends and identify opportunities for diversification or improvement in farm production.
- Prepare regular reports on farm performance, challenges, and proposed solutions for senior management.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years proven experience in farm management, with a strong understanding of both crop and livestock production.
- Sound knowledge of agricultural best practices, including soil management, irrigation, pest control, and animal husbandry.
- Demonstrated financial management and budgeting skills.
- Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office Suite).
- Valid South African driver's license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications
