Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate various types of cranes (e.g., mobile, overhead) to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment.
- Conduct thorough pre-operational and post-operational inspections of crane machinery and equipment, reporting any defects or malfunctions immediately.
- Accurately interpret and adhere to load charts, lifting plans, and rigging instructions to ensure safe lifting operations.
- Collaborate effectively with ground crews, riggers, and supervisors, maintaining clear communication during all lifting tasks.
- Ensure all lifting operations comply with company safety policies, industry standards, and relevant legal regulations (e.g., OHS Act).
- Perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on crane equipment as required.
- Participate actively in daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and all required safety training programs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring equipment is stored appropriately.
- Monitor weather conditions and site-specific hazards that could impact lifting operations and take appropriate preventative measures.
- Complete all necessary documentation, including logbooks, inspection reports, and job cards, accurately and on time.
Required Skills
- Valid Crane Operator certification (e.g., CETA accredited or equivalent) for relevant crane types.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience as a Crane Operator in industrial, logistics, or construction environments.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting load charts, rigging plans, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of crane mechanics, maintenance, and operational safety procedures.
- Excellent spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination, and depth perception.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to all health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
- Physical fitness to perform duties in demanding environments, including working at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Valid Code 14 (EC) driver's license with PrDP (Professional Driving Permit) if operating mobile cranes on public roads.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating multiple types of cranes (e.g., mobile, rough terrain, overhead gantry).
- Additional certifications in rigging and slinging.
- Knowledge of various lifting accessories and their safe application.
