Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure adherence to specified quality standards, blueprints, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform various tests and measurements using specialized equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, hardness testers, spectrometers) and document results accurately.
- Identify and investigate non-conforming materials or products, initiating corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in collaboration with production and engineering teams.
- Maintain detailed records of quality checks, test results, defect rates, and other relevant quality data.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures, work instructions, and quality assurance programs.
- Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality control protocols and identify areas for process improvement.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards and best practices.
- Prepare comprehensive quality reports for management review, highlighting trends, issues, and proposed solutions.
- Collaborate with suppliers to address material quality issues and ensure incoming materials meet specifications.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a quality control or assurance role, preferably within heavy industry or manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of quality control principles, methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing), and statistical process control (SPC).
- Proficiency in using various measurement tools and testing equipment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and collaboration.
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- A relevant National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
