We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and compassionate Pharmacy Assistant to join our dynamic team in Florida, Gauteng. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Pharmacist in the accurate and efficient dispensing of prescription medication, ensuring correct labelling, packaging, and patient information.
- Process patient prescriptions, update patient records, and maintain strict confidentiality of all medical information.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient queries, offering advice on over-the-counter products, and resolving concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Manage pharmacy stock, including receiving, unpacking, checking expiry dates, rotating stock, and ensuring proper storage and inventory levels.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organisation, and presentation of the dispensary and front shop area according to company standards and health regulations.
- Operate point-of-sale systems, handle cash and card transactions accurately, and manage daily reconciliation processes.
- Adhere strictly to all legal and ethical guidelines governing pharmacy practice, company policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, record-keeping, and preparing documents as required.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, facilitating effective communication and collaboration within the pharmacy.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the workplace.
Required Skills
- Completed a recognised Pharmacy Assistant qualification (e.g., Basic or Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification).
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and in good standing.
- Minimum of 1 year of practical experience as a Pharmacy Assistant, preferably in a retail pharmacy setting.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks, particularly dispensing.
- Proficiency in computer systems and experience with pharmacy management software (e.g., Unisolv, SAP).
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong ethical conduct and a steadfast commitment to patient confidentiality and professional integrity.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per operational requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working within the Dis-Chem Pharmacies network.
- Advanced computer literacy and experience with specific Dis-Chem systems.
- Knowledge of multiple South African official languages.
