Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Security Guard Supervisor to lead and manage our security operations in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a team of security guards, ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and operational efficiency are maintained at designated client sites. This pivotal role involves direct supervision, training, and performance management of security personnel, as well as acting as the primary point of contact for client liaison regarding security matters. You will be instrumental in implementing and enforcing company policies and procedures, conducting site inspections, and ensuring all security equipment is in optimal working condition.
The Security Guard Supervisor will be tasked with developing and maintaining a secure environment, preventing losses, and responding effectively to all security incidents, emergencies, and alarms. You will be expected to prepare detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and performance metrics, ensuring clear and concise communication to management and clients. A key aspect of this role is to foster a culture of vigilance, professionalism, and continuous improvement within your team. We are looking for a natural leader with exceptional communication skills, a strong understanding of security protocols, and a commitment to protecting people and assets. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and manage a team of security guards, ensuring adherence to company policies and client requirements.
- Develop and implement daily patrol schedules and duty rosters to ensure optimal coverage.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential security risks and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Respond promptly and effectively to all security incidents, emergencies, and alarms, documenting actions taken.
- Prepare comprehensive incident reports, daily activity reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
- Liaise directly with clients to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction with security services.
- Ensure all security equipment, including CCTV, access control systems, and communication devices, are functioning correctly.
- Provide ongoing mentorship and performance feedback to security personnel, promoting professional development.
- Enforce all security procedures, protocols, and legal requirements relevant to the security industry.
- Conduct regular briefings and debriefings with the security team.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership and team management abilities (min. 3 years in a supervisory role)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong understanding of security operations, protocols, and risk assessment
- Ability to make critical decisions and remain calm under pressure
- Proficiency in incident reporting and documentation
- Valid PSIRA Grade A or B certification (registered and up-to-date)
- Valid driver's license and own reliable transport
- Computer literacy (MS Office Suite)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar supervisory role within a large security firm
- First Aid and Firefighting certification
- Tertiary qualification in Security Management or a related field
- Advanced conflict resolution and de-escalation training
