Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine pool cleaning, including skimming, brushing, vacuuming, and emptying skimmer and pump baskets.
- Test and balance pool water chemistry (pH, chlorine, alkalinity, calcium hardness, etc.) and apply necessary chemicals accurately.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair pool equipment such as pumps, filters, heaters, salt chlorinators, and automated systems.
- Identify and resolve issues such as leaks, algae blooms, and water clarity problems efficiently.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on all pool components to extend lifespan and ensure optimal operation.
- Maintain accurate service records for each client, including chemical dosages, repairs performed, and observations.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pool conditions, recommended services, and maintenance tips, fostering strong client relationships.
- Provide exceptional customer service, building rapport and trust with clients through professional and courteous interactions.
- Manage and organize personal work vehicle with necessary tools, chemicals, and spare parts, ensuring inventory is always stocked.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company guidelines for chemical handling and equipment operation to ensure a safe working environment.
- Diagnose and provide solutions for complex technical pool issues, demonstrating expert problem-solving abilities.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Pool Technician or similar role in a professional setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pool chemistry, water balancing, and chemical safety protocols.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing various pool equipment (pumps, filters, heaters, automated systems, etc.).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent problem-solving skills to address various pool challenges.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities to manage a busy service route.
- Valid South African driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage a designated route efficiently and responsibly.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions and environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification in pool maintenance or CPO (Certified Pool Operator) designation.
- Experience with automated pool systems, smart pool technology, and energy-efficient solutions.
- Prior customer service experience in a field-based role, demonstrating client interaction skills.
- Knowledge of local regulations pertaining to pool safety, water quality standards, and environmental practices.
