DSV, a global leader in transport and logistics, is seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to join our dynamic team in Midrand, Gauteng. This is a critical role responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels, and supporting seamless operations within our bustling warehouse environment. In this role, you will be the guardian of our inventory, ensuring that all goods are meticulously tracked from receipt to dispatch. You will be instrumental in implementing and maintaining robust inventory control systems and procedures, working closely with various departments including warehousing, procurement, and finance. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular stock counts (cycle counts and full physical counts) and reconcile discrepancies promptly.
- Investigate and resolve all inventory discrepancies, including negative stock, damaged goods, and misidentified items.
- Maintain accurate inventory records within the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP system.
- Monitor stock levels and identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory, recommending appropriate action.
- Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure efficient inbound and outbound inventory flow.
- Generate comprehensive inventory reports, including stock ageing, valuation, and movement analysis.
- Implement and enforce inventory control procedures and best practices.
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of inventory management processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health, and safety regulations.
- Train and mentor junior staff on inventory control procedures where necessary.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in an Inventory Controller or similar role, preferably in a logistics or warehousing environment.
- Proven experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (advanced level).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory control principles and practices.
- Relevant Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP or similar enterprise-level WMS/ERP systems.
- Certification in Supply Chain Management or Inventory Management (e.g., APICS CSCP).
- Previous experience in a high-volume distribution centre or 3PL environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles related to inventory optimization.
