Job Description

Are you a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Development (ECD) Practitioner eager to make a significant impact on young lives? Makhukhu’s Angels Creche and Daycare is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic ECD Practitioner to join our growing team in Soshanguve, Gauteng. This full-time role offers an incredible opportunity to shape the foundational years of children aged 0-5, guiding them through a critical period of learning and and discovery. As an ECD Practitioner with us, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing engaging educational programs that align with national ECD frameworks and our centre’s unique, child-centered approach. You will foster a stimulating classroom environment where creativity is encouraged, questions are celebrated, and every child feels valued and supported. Your days will be filled with joyful interactions, teaching foundational literacy and numeracy skills, facilitating imaginative play, and nurturing socio-emotional development. We are looking for someone who brings not just qualifications, but a genuine love for children, an innovative spirit, and a commitment to continuous professional growth. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate, play-based learning activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development.
  • Create a safe, clean, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
  • Observe, assess, and document children’s progress, identifying individual needs and tailoring support as required.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with parents/guardians regarding their child's development, achievements, and any concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records including attendance, health, and developmental observations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and coordinate centre-wide activities and events.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and hygiene standards and regulations.
  • Manage classroom resources and materials effectively.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and fellow staff members.

Required Skills

  • NQF Level 4/5 Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Development.
  • Proven experience working with young children (0-5 years) in an ECD setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development theories and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Creativity, patience, empathy, and a genuine love for children.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in at least two South African official languages (English and an indigenous language preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of specific ECD curricula (e.g., CAPS for Grade R, NCF).
  • Experience with special needs education within an ECD context.
  • Computer literacy (basic administrative tasks).
