Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Process Plant Operator to join our dynamic team at our Tlhabane operations. As a Process Plant Operator, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of various processing equipment involved in the extraction and refinement of platinum group metals. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment. You will monitor, control, and optimize plant processes, ensuring production targets are met while adhering strictly to quality and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor various processing plant equipment, including crushers, mills, flotation cells, and thickeners, from a control room or field.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and processes to identify potential issues, deviations, or malfunctions.
- Adjust process parameters (e.g., flow rates, temperatures, pressures) as required to maintain optimal plant performance and product quality.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks and assist with troubleshooting and minor repairs to ensure continuous operation.
- Collect and record accurate operational data, including readings, samples, and log entries.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and environmental guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments regarding operational status, issues, and handovers.
- Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment around the plant area.
Required Skills
- Grade 10 or NQF Level 2 equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Process Plant Operator in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude for operating and monitoring complex machinery.
- Sound understanding of process control principles.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, shift-based environment.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to protocols.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Physical fitness to perform duties that may involve standing, walking, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
- Relevant Process Plant Operator qualification or certification.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
- Valid First Aid certificate.
- Previous experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or SCADA systems.
