Impala Platinum (Implats) is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Human Resources Manager to join our dynamic team in Rustenburg, North West. This pivotal role will be instrumental in leading and executing comprehensive HR strategies that align with our operational goals and unwavering commitment to our workforce. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all facets of human resources management within our extensive platinum operations, encompassing critical areas such as strategic talent acquisition and retention, robust employee relations, meticulous performance management, impactful training and development programs, competitive compensation and benefits administration, and the meticulous implementation of HR policies and procedures. Your work will directly contribute to fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring compliance across our complex operational landscape.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy and operational goals of the Rustenburg platinum operations, focusing on productivity and employee well-being.
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment and selection process, ensuring the attraction, interviewing, and retention of high-calibre talent efficiently.
- Oversee and manage a comprehensive performance appraisal system that effectively drives high performance, identifies development needs, and supports employee growth.
- Handle complex employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, grievance procedures, and conflict resolution, ensuring fair, consistent application of company policies, and adherence to labour laws.
- Lead and participate in collective bargaining negotiations, fostering constructive dialogue and maintaining positive relationships with labour unions.
- Ensure comprehensive compliance with all relevant South African labour legislation (e.g., LRA, BCEA, EE Act, SDA, OHSA), industry-specific regulations, and internal company policies.
- Administer competitive compensation and benefits programs, regularly reviewing market trends to ensure equity and attractiveness.
- Identify critical training needs across the operations and develop or procure targeted training and development programs to enhance employee skills and career progression.
- Manage the HR departmental budget and ensure optimal resource allocation to support strategic objectives.
- Generate insightful HR reports and analytics to inform strategic decision-making and track key HR metrics such, as turnover, absenteeism, and talent pipeline.
- Champion a positive and inclusive company culture, actively promoting employee engagement, health, safety, and wellness initiatives across all levels of the organization.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior HR staff, fostering their professional development and growth within the department.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an HR Manager or similar senior HR role, with at least 6 years of progressive experience, preferably within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
- In-depth, practical knowledge of South African labour law (LRA, BCEA, EE Act, SDA, OHSA) and contemporary HR best practices.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic talent acquisition, robust performance management systems, and complex employee relations.
- Strong understanding of compensation and benefits administration principles and practices.
- Exceptional communication, advanced interpersonal, and strong negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work effectively and resiliently in a high-pressure, fast-paced operational environment.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (Human Resources Information Systems) and advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strategic thinking capabilities coupled with a practical, results-oriented approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification (e.g., Honours, Master's) in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Extensive experience with the SAP HR module or other large-scale enterprise HRIS systems.
- Professional certification in Human Resources, such as SABPP (South African Board for People Practices).
- Proven track record of successful union negotiations and maintaining positive, constructive labour relations in a unionized environment.
