Job Description

Keen to Care is seeking a motivated and caring Support Worker to join our team in Stella, North West. As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing essential assistance and companionship to individuals, helping them maintain their independence and enjoy a high quality of life within their own homes and communities. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while respecting client dignity and privacy.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques safely and effectively.
  • Support clients with medication management, ensuring adherence to prescribed dosages and schedules.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed, catering to dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Perform light household duties, such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping, to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
  • Offer companionship, engage in meaningful conversations, and participate in recreational activities to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, social outings, or community events, providing necessary support and supervision.
  • Monitor and report any changes in a client's health, behaviour, or well-being to the care coordinator promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and daily logs as per company policy.
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols, company policies, and ethical guidelines at all times.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in a support worker, caregiver, or similar role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage daily tasks efficiently.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon employment).
  • Valid South African driver's license and access to reliable transport.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with clients and their families.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NQF Level 3 or 4 Certificate in Ancillary Health Care, Home Based Care, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with individuals with specific conditions such as dementia, physical disabilities, or chronic illnesses.
  • Proficiency in local languages common in North West, such as Setswana or Afrikaans.
  • Additional training or certifications in specialised care areas (e.g., palliative care, wound care).
