Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, bake, and finish a wide range of bakery products including breads, rolls, pastries, cakes, and other specialty items according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain bakery equipment safely and efficiently, including mixers, ovens, proofers, and slicers.
- Monitor product quality and consistency throughout the baking process, ensuring all items meet Shoprite's high standards.
- Manage inventory of raw materials, ensuring proper stock rotation and minimizing waste.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and organised workspace.
- Assist in the development of new recipes and baking techniques to enhance product offerings.
- Provide excellent customer service, including preparing special orders and assisting customers with product selections when required.
- Collaborate effectively with other bakery staff and store employees to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Perform general cleaning duties in the bakery area, including cleaning ovens, mixers, floors, and work surfaces.
- Assist with receiving and storing supplies, verifying quality and quantity of incoming goods.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a baker in a commercial or retail bakery setting.
- In-depth knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
