As a Process Operator at Sasol Limited’s state-of-the-art facility in Sasolburg, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of our chemical production processes. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor process equipment, machinery, and control systems from a central control room and field.
- Perform routine inspections, minor maintenance, and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
- Respond to alarms, deviations, and emergencies promptly and effectively, following established procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, environmental, and quality standards and regulations.
- Record operational data, maintain logs, and generate reports accurately.
- Collaborate with engineers, maintenance staff, and other operators to optimise plant performance.
- Participate in safety meetings, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Execute plant start-up, shutdown, and changeover procedures safely and efficiently.
- Conduct regular quality checks on products and processes.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Process Operator in a chemical or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Proficiency in operating Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or similar process control software.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- National Diploma or NQF Level 4/5 equivalent in Chemical Operations, Process Control, or a related technical field.
- Experience with SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) module.
- First Aid and Fire Fighting certification.
- Forklift operator's license.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
