Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care, including patient assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs, medical history, and progress, maintaining accurate and detailed electronic health records.
- Collaborate effectively with doctors, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health management, disease prevention, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Assist with minor surgical procedures and emergency interventions, demonstrating proficiency and calm under pressure.
- Maintain a sterile and organized clinical environment, ensuring compliance with infection control policies and safety regulations.
- Participate in community health screenings, vaccination drives, and health education workshops, potentially off-site.
- Contribute to the development and review of clinical protocols and patient care guidelines.
- Undertake administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient inquiries, and preparing reports, with some flexibility for remote work.
Required Skills
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Minimum of 2 years post-basic nursing experience in a clinical setting (private practice or hospital)
- Proficiency in administering injections, IV therapy, and wound care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure
- Computer literacy, particularly with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Experience in primary healthcare, community nursing, or public health initiatives
- Fluency in Afrikaans or Sesotho (in addition to English) to better serve our diverse community
- Experience with telemedicine or remote patient monitoring platforms is a plus
