Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Irrigation Technician to join our innovative agricultural services team. While based remotely, this role is crucial for providing expert technical support, design consultation, and diagnostic services for advanced irrigation systems across the Petrusburg and wider Free State region. You will be responsible for remotely monitoring irrigation systems, conducting virtual diagnostics, assisting clients with troubleshooting, and contributing to the design and optimization of new and existing irrigation projects. Key Responsibilities
- Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting for various irrigation systems, including pivots, drip, and micro-irrigation.

- Collaborate with sales and project teams to design and optimize irrigation layouts and specifications.
- Develop and deliver virtual training sessions and technical guidance to farmers and on-site staff.
- Prepare detailed reports on system performance, maintenance requirements, and recommended upgrades.
- Assist clients with controller programming, sensor integration, and software navigation remotely.
- Research and stay updated on new irrigation technologies, products, and best practices.
- Schedule and coordinate occasional on-site visits for complex installations, critical repairs, or detailed system audits when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, service history, and system configurations.
- Ensure compliance with water usage regulations and promote efficient water management strategies.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in irrigation system installation, maintenance, or technical support.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic components of irrigation systems.
- Strong understanding of irrigation controllers, sensors, pumps, and valves.
- Excellent remote communication and virtual collaboration skills.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and design documents.
- Competency in using office software (MS Office Suite) and learning specialized irrigation software.
- Valid South African driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally for on-site support.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Agricultural Engineering, Water Management, or a related technical field.
