Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed welding procedure specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR) in accordance with industry codes (e.g., ASME IX, AWS D1.1).
- Perform comprehensive material take-offs and develop accurate cost estimates for welding and fabrication components of projects.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to determine welding requirements and structural integrity.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to design and model welding configurations and assemblies.
- Collaborate remotely with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to provide technical support and ensure welding operations align with design intent.
- Identify potential design flaws or fabrication challenges and propose effective, cost-efficient solutions.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of welding technologies, materials, and industry best practices.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals and client presentations, focusing on welding scope and capabilities.
- Conduct virtual quality checks and provide guidance on welding inspection criteria.
- Ensure all designs and estimations comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and client standards.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in various welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW).
- Proficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
- Strong understanding of international welding codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API).
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for accurate estimation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
