Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated, highly skilled, and experienced Plumber to join our essential services team at Elliot Local Municipality, an operating entity within the broader Sakhisizwe Local Municipality. This is a crucial role responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, meticulous repair, and precise installation of plumbing systems across municipal properties, critical public infrastructure, and various residential service points within the Elliot jurisdiction. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver, adept at accurately diagnosing complex plumbing issues, executing efficient and lasting repairs, and ensuring the seamless, efficient, and safe operation of vital water and sanitation networks that are indispensable to our community’s health and daily life.

This position requires a dynamic and adaptable individual who can confidently navigate and resolve a wide array of plumbing challenges. Your responsibilities will span from identifying and resolving elusive leaks in water pipes, proficiently unblocking stubborn sewer lines, and expertly repairing burst pipes, to installing new fixtures, modern hot water systems, and ensuring strict compliance with all local building codes and rigorous safety regulations. You will also be actively involved in implementing preventative maintenance programs specifically designed to prolong the life of our invaluable infrastructure and minimize potential service disruptions.

While much of your work will inherently involve hands-on technical tasks performed in the field, this role proudly embraces a hybrid work model. This means you will also have dedicated time allocated for office-based duties such as meticulously planning maintenance schedules, preparing accurate material requisitions, completing detailed service reports, consulting on intricate project specifications, and actively participating in crucial team meetings or essential training sessions. There may also be opportunities for remote administrative tasks, allowing for greater flexibility and enhanced efficiency in your work week. This thoughtful blend ensures a comprehensive and holistic approach to plumbing services, adeptly combining practical application with strategic planning, thorough documentation, and effective reporting.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the demonstrable capacity to work both independently and as an integral part of a collaborative team. If you are passionate about plumbing, dedicated to high-quality workmanship, and eager to make a tangible, positive difference in a dynamic municipal setting, we strongly encourage you to apply. Your expertise will be instrumental in upholding the superior quality and unwavering reliability of our municipal water and sanitation services, directly impacting the lives of thousands of residents.
