Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Guesthouse Manager to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This unique opportunity allows you to leverage your extensive hospitality expertise to oversee the strategic and operational aspects of Aan de Eike Guesthouse from anywhere, while coordinating closely with our dedicated on-site team in Swellendam. As the Remote Guesthouse Manager, you will be the driving force behind our online presence, guest engagement, financial performance, and overall guest satisfaction, ensuring that our high standards of luxury and service are consistently met and exceeded. Your primary focus will be on managing reservations, optimizing booking channels, developing dynamic marketing strategies, handling all guest communications prior to and post-stay, and overseeing financial administration. You will act as the central hub for all remote operations, providing guidance and support to our on-site staff for day-to-day operations and guest interactions. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all remote aspects of guesthouse operations, including reservations, online travel agency management, and direct booking channels.
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive marketing and social media strategies to enhance visibility and attract guests.
- Manage all guest communications, inquiries, feedback, and post-stay follow-ups to ensure a consistently high level of guest satisfaction.
- Conduct financial planning, budgeting, expenditure tracking, and revenue management to optimize profitability.
- Provide virtual leadership, training, and support to the on-site operational team, ensuring adherence to service standards and operational protocols.
- Monitor guest reviews and online reputation across various platforms, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all administrative tasks, including invoicing, reporting, and record-keeping, are accurately completed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers and tourism partners.
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and security policies in coordination with the on-site team.
- Stay abreast of hospitality industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions to inform strategic decisions.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in hospitality management, with a preference for guesthouse or boutique hotel environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage operations remotely or in a blended work model.
- Exceptional digital literacy, including proficiency with Property Management Systems (PMS), Online Travel Agencies (OTAs), and social media platforms.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with excellent command of English.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management.
- Proactive problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and lead a remote team.
- Customer-centric approach with a passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.
- Experience with specific PMS software such as NightsBridge or similar.
- Knowledge of the Swellendam tourism market and local attractions.
- Multilingual capabilities (e.g., Afrikaans, German, French) are a strong advantage.
