  • Organise and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and participatory sessions (virtually and occasionally in-person) to gather input and build consensus on KBRC initiatives.
  • Conduct community needs assessments to identify priorities and ensure KBRC projects are responsive to local contexts and contribute to socio-economic development.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of community engagement strategies and communication plans.
  • Represent KBRC at local events and forums, promoting our mission and building goodwill.
  • Prepare regular reports on community engagement activities, challenges, and successes for internal review.
  • Collaborate closely with KBRC project managers and conservation teams to ensure community perspectives are integrated into project planning and execution.
  • Identify and mitigate potential conflicts or misunderstandings between KBRC and community stakeholders.
  • Assist with the recruitment and coordination of local volunteers for various projects.
  • Stay informed about local socio-political developments and community dynamics that may impact KBRC operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in community development, public relations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and trust with diverse community groups.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a remote setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
  • Valid driver's license and own reliable transport for occasional site visits.
  • Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of socio-economic issues in rural South African communities.
