Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and innovative Remote Early Childhood/Primary Teacher to join our forward-thinking team. This unique full-time position is designed for an educator who excels in virtual learning environments and is dedicated to delivering high-quality, engaging education to students from Grade R to Grade 3 (ages 5-9) within a remote setting. As a Remote Teacher, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing dynamic online lessons, fostering a positive and interactive virtual classroom culture, and ensuring that every student receives personalised attention and support. You will utilise cutting-edge educational technology to create immersive learning experiences that mirror the effectiveness of in-person instruction, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and essential life skills. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate online lessons for Early Childhood (Grade R) and Primary Phase (Grades 1-3) students.
- Utilise virtual classroom tools and educational software to create an interactive and supportive learning environment.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
- Communicate effectively and regularly with parents/guardians regarding student performance, progress, and any concerns.
- Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to ensure curriculum alignment and consistent educational standards.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavioural observations.
- Participate in virtual staff meetings, professional development, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Adapt and differentiate instruction for students with varying learning styles and abilities in a remote setting.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful online classroom culture.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.Ed.) or a relevant Bachelor's Degree with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
- SACE (South African Council for Educators) registration.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in Early Childhood or Primary Phase education.
- Proven experience with online teaching platforms and digital learning tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Afrikaans is advantageous.
- Reliable high-speed internet access and a suitable home office setup.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with blended learning models or full-time virtual school environments.
- Additional qualifications or certifications in special education or educational technology.
- Familiarity with the CAPS curriculum for Early Childhood Development and Foundation Phase.
