Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Remote Early Childhood/Primary Teacher to join our forward-thinking team. This unique full-time position is designed for an educator who excels in virtual learning environments and is dedicated to delivering high-quality, engaging education to students from Grade R to Grade 3 (ages 5-9) within a remote setting. As a Remote Teacher, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing dynamic online lessons, fostering a positive and interactive virtual classroom culture, and ensuring that every student receives personalised attention and support. You will utilise cutting-edge educational technology to create immersive learning experiences that mirror the effectiveness of in-person instruction, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and essential life skills. The successful candidate will be a creative problem-solver, highly organised, and adept at communicating effectively with young learners, their parents, and fellow educators. This role requires a deep understanding of early childhood and primary phase curriculum, coupled with the ability to adapt teaching methodologies for online delivery. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate online lessons for Early Childhood (Grade R) and Primary Phase (Grades 1-3) students.
  • Utilise virtual classroom tools and educational software to create an interactive and supportive learning environment.
  • Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with parents/guardians regarding student performance, progress, and any concerns.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to ensure curriculum alignment and consistent educational standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavioural observations.
  • Participate in virtual staff meetings, professional development, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Adapt and differentiate instruction for students with varying learning styles and abilities in a remote setting.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful online classroom culture.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.Ed.) or a relevant Bachelor's Degree with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
  • SACE (South African Council for Educators) registration.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in Early Childhood or Primary Phase education.
  • Proven experience with online teaching platforms and digital learning tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Afrikaans is advantageous.
  • Reliable high-speed internet access and a suitable home office setup.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with blended learning models or full-time virtual school environments.
  • Additional qualifications or certifications in special education or educational technology.
  • Familiarity with the CAPS curriculum for Early Childhood Development and Foundation Phase.
