Job Description
Slanghoek Wine Cellar is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Production Manager (Agri-processing) to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This pivotal role will be instrumental in overseeing the entire agri-processing value chain, from raw material intake to finished product dispatch, leveraging technology and remote management best practices. While based remotely, you will be responsible for setting and maintaining high standards for production efficiency, quality control, and operational excellence across our agri-processing functions. You will strategically plan, organize, and control production processes to ensure optimal output, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to all food safety and quality regulations. This role demands a proactive leader with a deep understanding of agri-processing technologies, supply chain management, and the ability to inspire and manage a distributed team. You will drive continuous improvement initiatives, implement lean manufacturing principles, and ensure the seamless integration of production activities with sales and distribution targets. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies to meet business objectives and sales forecasts.
- Oversee all aspects of agri-processing operations remotely, utilizing real-time data, communication tools, and performance dashboards.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality assurance standards, food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, ISO), and company policies.
- Manage production budgets, optimize operational costs, and identify areas for efficiency improvements and waste reduction.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a remote or hybrid production team, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track production efficiency, quality, and delivery performance.
- Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and sales teams to ensure smooth material flow and product delivery.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies and process improvements to enhance productivity and product quality.
- Manage equipment maintenance schedules and ensure operational readiness and safety compliance.
- Prepare detailed production reports, analyze data, and present insights to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in Production Management within the agri-processing or food & beverage industry.
- Demonstrable expertise in production planning, scheduling, and inventory control.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000) and food safety regulations.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional leadership and remote team management abilities, with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating across departments.
