Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Municipal Services Worker to join our dynamic team in Vanrhynsdorp. This role is crucial for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our public spaces and infrastructure. The successful candidate will be involved in essential waste management operations, including refuse collection and disposal, as well as road maintenance tasks such as patching, clearing, and general upkeep of municipal roads and stormwater systems. While the core of this role involves essential on-site fieldwork crucial for community well-being and infrastructure, we embrace a progressive ‘Hybrid’ work model. This means that alongside your pivotal duties in waste management and road maintenance performed physically in Vanrhynsdorp, certain administrative, reporting, and logistical planning aspects of the role may offer flexibility for partial remote work or designated off-site duties, as determined by operational needs and municipal policy. This innovative approach allows for both critical hands-on service delivery and adaptable work arrangements, fostering a balance between physical presence and flexible task management. You will operate various hand tools and potentially light machinery, working as part of a team to ensure our municipal standards are consistently met. This position requires a strong work ethic, physical stamina, a commitment to safety, and a desire to contribute positively to the community.

  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, municipal policies, and environmental guidelines.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or major structural damages immediately.
  • Engage in basic administrative tasks such as logging daily activities, reporting completed tasks, and assisting with inventory checks for tools and materials (flexible/remote component).
  • Participate in team briefings, training sessions, and contribute to route planning discussions (flexible/remote component).
  • Assist with disaster management efforts and emergency response as required.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and the public.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste materials in designated areas.
