Job Description

Are you a highly organised and proactive administrative professional with a passion for local governance and community development? Urban-Econ Development Economists is seeking a dedicated Remote Local Government Administrator to provide crucial support to our projects and initiatives focused on the Paulshoek area and the broader Nama Khoi Local Municipality in the Northern Cape. This vital remote role requires an individual who can thrive independently, ensuring the smooth operational flow of administrative tasks that underpin our engagement with local government structures and community stakeholders. You will be instrumental in managing project documentation, facilitating communication, coordinating meetings, and handling various administrative duties that support our expert consultants and project managers working on critical development projects. The successful candidate will leverage their strong organisational skills and attention to detail to ensure that all administrative processes are compliant, efficient, and supportive of our strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and logistical support to project managers and consultants working on local government initiatives.
  • Manage and organise project documentation, reports, presentations, and correspondence in digital formats.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements, including preparing agendas and taking minutes.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for administrative queries from local government officials and community stakeholders.
  • Assist with data collection, input, and basic analysis related to project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Prepare and process administrative forms, requisitions, and other necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of project progress, expenditures, and communication logs.
  • Ensure compliance with company administrative policies and relevant local government regulations.
  • Utilise various online collaboration tools and software for efficient remote work and team communication.
  • Support the preparation of tender documents, proposals, and project reports.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external partners to ensure seamless project execution.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in an administrative or project support role, preferably within the public sector or development field.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (Afrikaans and/or isiXhosa beneficial).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and virtual collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all tasks.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Understanding of local government structures and processes in South Africa.
  • Experience working with communities or local government in the Northern Cape province.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and software.
  • Experience in data management and basic reporting.
