Are you a qualified and highly skilled Electrician looking for a dynamic role that blends hands-on field expertise with the flexibility of modern work practices? Sola Gratia Electrical Contractors, a leading electrical services provider in the Northern Cape, is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Electrician to join our professional team. This unique Hybrid role offers the best of both worlds, combining essential on-site project work across Vioolsdrif and its surrounding areas with dedicated time for administrative tasks, project planning, technical research, and remote reporting.
You will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of electrical systems for our diverse client base, ranging from agricultural enterprises to commercial facilities. Your day will involve traveling to various sites to perform installations, diagnostics, and repairs, followed by time spent on paperwork, ordering materials, and coordinating future projects, which can often be managed remotely or from a regional depot. Key Responsibilities
- Perform the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Ensure all work is performed in strict accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and other relevant regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, time spent, and materials used.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior electricians or apprentices.
- Effectively communicate with clients, explaining technical issues and solutions clearly and professionally.
Required Skills
- Valid NQF Level 4 or 5 Electrical Qualification (e.g., National Certificate: Electrical Engineering)
- Valid Wireman's Licence (Single-phase and/or Three-phase)
- Minimum of 3 years demonstrable experience as a qualified Electrician
- Proven experience in fault-finding and troubleshooting electrical systems
- Strong understanding of electrical safety protocols and regulations
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Valid Code B (08) driver's license with a clear driving record
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with solar PV system installations and maintenance
- Advanced First Aid certification
- Experience in agricultural or industrial electrical environments
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for reporting and scheduling
