Job Description
Alexkor is seeking a highly motivated and meticulous Storeman to join our operations in Koingnaas, Northern Cape. In this critical hybrid role, you will be instrumental in the efficient management of our extensive inventory, ensuring the smooth flow of materials and equipment essential for our mining activities. This position offers a unique blend of on-site engagement, where you’ll be actively involved in the physical handling and meticulous record-keeping of stock, combined with remote administrative tasks and coordination. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and dispatching a wide range of goods, from heavy machinery parts and consumables to specialized mining tools and safety equipment. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate stock levels, conducting regular inventory audits, and implementing robust control measures to prevent loss or damage. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a dynamic and often demanding operational environment. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Accurately store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper organization and accessibility.
- Issue materials and equipment to authorized personnel upon request, maintaining accurate records of all transactions.
- Conduct regular stock counts and participate in inventory audits to ensure accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and report on shortages or excesses to procurement and management.
- Ensure the proper and safe handling, storage, and preservation of all inventory items, including hazardous materials.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently (where applicable).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment in compliance with company and industry standards.
- Prepare dispatch documents and arrange for the outgoing shipment of materials or equipment.
- Collaborate with supply chain, maintenance, and operational teams to optimize inventory management processes.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Storeman or in a similar inventory management role.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid driver's license and forklift operator certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- Matric/Grade 12 certificate.
- Post-secondary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience in a mining, industrial, or heavy machinery environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to warehousing and material handling.
