Are you an experienced and proactive Human Resources professional looking to make a significant impact from the comfort of your home? Sishen Iron Ore Company (Pty) Ltd, a leading force in South Africa’s mining sector and a proud member of the Kumba Iron Ore and Anglo American family, is seeking a dedicated Remote Human Resources Officer to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to contribute to a globally recognized organization, supporting our workforce across various operations from your remote workstation in Heuningvlei, Northern Cape.

As a Remote Human Resources Officer, you will be instrumental in the execution of our HR strategies, ensuring seamless HR operations and fostering a positive and productive work environment for our diverse employee base. Your responsibilities will span a broad spectrum of HR functions, encompassing talent acquisition support from initial screening to onboarding, managing employee relations inquiries, assisting with performance management cycles, and meticulously administering HR policies and procedures. A critical aspect of this role involves maintaining stringent compliance with all relevant South African labour legislation, ensuring fair and equitable treatment for all employees. This role requires a meticulous individual with excellent communication skills, a strong grasp of HR best practices, and the ability to thrive independently in a virtual setting while maintaining strong collaborative ties with the broader HR team and business units. You will play a crucial part in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent, directly impacting the operational excellence and sustained success of our mining operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive support in the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to offboarding.
  • Administer HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and compliance across the organization.
  • Assist with employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and grievance handling.
  • Support performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, and development plans.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Prepare HR reports and analytics to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all South African labour laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers on talent acquisition strategies and interview processes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR initiatives and programs.
  • Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a large corporate environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation (e.g., LRA, BCEA, EE Act).
  • Proficiency in HRIS and other HR software (e.g., SAP SuccessFactors, Workday).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate qualification in HR or a related discipline.
  • Membership with a professional HR body (e.g., SABPP).
  • Experience working in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
  • Prior experience in a remote or hybrid work model.
  • Proficiency in an additional official South African language.
