Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain highly accurate digital mine plans, maps, and models using advanced surveying software and GIS.
- Conduct remote volumetric calculations for excavation, backfill, and ore reserves with precision.
- Monitor and analyze survey data from various sources, including drones, LiDAR, and satellite imagery, to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Prepare comprehensive survey reports, statistics, and presentations for management and operational teams.
- Ensure all remote surveying activities comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate virtually with on-site mine planning, geology, and production teams to provide essential survey support and insights.
- Manage and archive all survey data securely, ensuring accessibility and version control.
- Identify and implement innovative remote surveying technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide technical guidance and support to on-site personnel regarding survey data interpretation and application.
Required Skills
- Relevant National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying (or equivalent)
- Professional registration with the South African Council for Professional and Technical Surveyors (PLATO) or eligible for registration
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, preferably with remote data management experience
- Proficiency in leading mine surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MineRP, Surpac, MicroStation, GIS software)
- Strong understanding of geodetic principles, photogrammetry, and remote sensing techniques
- Excellent data analysis, interpretation, and reporting skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and virtual collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics
- Experience with enterprise-level GIS systems (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS)
- Certification in specific surveying software or drone operations
