Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cleaning Supervisor to join our Facilities Management team at our Black Rock Mine Operations in Hotazel, Northern Cape. This Hybrid role offers a unique opportunity to lead and inspire a dedicated cleaning crew, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety across various operational areas including administrative offices, changing rooms, common areas, and specialized industrial spaces. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining a pristine and healthy environment for our employees and visitors, contributing directly to the operational efficiency and well-being of our mine. You will be responsible for overseeing daily cleaning schedules, managing staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and implementing best practices in cleaning methodologies. This role requires a proactive leader with excellent organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage resources effectively in a dynamic industrial setting. You will be expected to conduct regular inspections, report on performance, and identify areas for improvement, working collaboratively with other departments to ensure seamless operations. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of cleaning staff, assigning tasks and monitoring performance to ensure high standards of cleanliness.
- Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules for various areas including offices, change houses, workshops, and common facilities.
- Ensure strict adherence to company health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, as well as relevant legislative requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of premises to identify cleaning needs, assess quality of work, and address any issues promptly.
- Manage and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper usage while adhering to budget guidelines.
- Train new cleaning staff on proper cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
- Handle staff queries, provide guidance, and conduct performance reviews for team members.
- Liaise with Facilities Management and other departmental heads to coordinate cleaning activities and address specific requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, staff attendance, and supply usage.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in cleaning operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within cleaning or facilities management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and train staff.
- Excellent knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment.
- Thorough understanding of health, safety, and hygiene regulations (e.g., OSHA, COIDA).
- Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- NQF Level 4 qualification in Cleaning or Facilities Management.
- First Aid and Fire Fighting certification.
- Previous experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
- Valid driver's license.
