KLK Agri-Business is seeking a dedicated and versatile Farm Worker to join our dynamic team in Calvinia, Northern Cape. This unique ‘Hybrid’ role is designed for an individual who is not only proficient in traditional agricultural practices but also possesses the organizational skills to manage certain administrative or planning aspects from a flexible base, ensuring efficient farm operations. While the core responsibilities will involve hands-on work directly on the farm, a portion of your time will be allocated to tasks that can be performed with some flexibility, such as inventory management, record-keeping, basic report generation, or coordinating logistics for off-site farm supplies. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our farm, contributing to the health and productivity of crops and livestock, and maintaining our high standards of agricultural excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general farm duties including planting, cultivating, harvesting crops, and feeding/caring for livestock.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment (tractors, irrigation systems, etc.).
- Monitor crop health, identify pests/diseases, and assist with appropriate treatments.
- Assist with livestock management, including vaccination, dipping, and general animal welfare.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs of farm infrastructure (fences, buildings, water systems).
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities, produce yields, and livestock data using digital tools.
- Manage and track inventory of farm supplies, feed, and equipment, potentially coordinating orders remotely.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Assist with transportation and logistics for farm inputs and outputs as required.
- Participate in farm planning and strategy meetings, providing insights from daily operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in general farm work (crops and/or livestock).
- Ability to operate and maintain various farm machinery.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record-keeping.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license (Code B or higher).
