Job Description
K.H. Electricians is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Remote Electrician to join our growing team. While the core of an Electrician’s role involves hands-on installation, maintenance, and repair, we are innovating our operational model to offer greater flexibility and efficiency. This ‘Remote Electrician’ position is designed for an independent professional who can effectively manage their workload, schedule client visits, procure necessary materials, and complete administrative and reporting tasks from a home-based office. You will serve as a crucial point of contact for clients, planning and executing electrical projects and service calls predominantly within Willowmore and the surrounding Eastern Cape region.
This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work autonomously. You will be responsible for diagnosing electrical issues, installing new electrical systems, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring all work adheres to national and local electrical codes. The remote aspect of this role empowers you to optimize your daily schedule, reduce traditional office commutes, and enhance productivity by focusing on strategic planning and direct client engagement. You will be expected to travel to various client locations for fieldwork, using your home as a base for all non-field duties such as quoting, invoicing, and client communication. Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily schedule, plan efficient routes for client visits, and coordinate project timelines from a remote office.
- Perform skilled electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical system malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Install and maintain wiring, lighting systems, control systems, and other electrical equipment.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with the latest national and local electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
- Provide accurate job estimates, prepare invoices, and maintain detailed records of work performed and materials used.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, explain technical details, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Procure necessary tools and materials, ensuring availability for scheduled projects.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with industry advancements and best practices.
Required Skills
- Valid Electrician's license (Wireman's License or equivalent)
- Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and fault finding across diverse settings
- Strong knowledge of South African electrical codes and safety regulations
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical diagrams
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- N3/N4/N5/N6 in Electrical Engineering or relevant trade qualification
- Experience with renewable energy systems (solar PV, inverters)
- Familiarity with smart home technologies and automation systems
- Proficiency in using job management software or applications
