We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Remote IT Support Technician to join our vital team at Amahlathi Local Municipality. Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line remote technical support to municipal staff via phone, email, and a centralized ticketing system.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues for desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (primarily Microsoft Windows) and a variety of software applications.
- Assist with comprehensive user account management, including password resets, account creation, and permission adjustments.
- Troubleshoot basic network connectivity problems such as TCP/IP configurations, Wi-Fi access, and VPN connections.
- Document all support activities, resolutions, and technical procedures accurately and thoroughly within the helpdesk system.
- Provide basic training and clear guidance to users on IT best practices, system usage, and security awareness.
- Escalate complex or unresolved technical issues to senior IT staff or specialized teams for advanced support.
- Conduct remote IT asset inventory management and tracking to ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Participate in remote projects for system upgrades, migrations, and new hardware/software deployments.
- Ensure compliance with municipal IT policies and security protocols in all support activities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in an IT support role, with demonstrable remote support capabilities.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 10, 11) and macOS environments.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
- Familiarity with remote desktop software (e.g., TeamViewer, AnyDesk, RDP) and helpdesk ticketing systems.
- Solid understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi security).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with an ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
