Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Civil Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team in Orania, Northern Cape. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Civil Engineers in the design, planning, and execution of various civil engineering projects, including roads, water reticulation, sewerage systems, and structural elements.
- Prepare detailed technical drawings, schematics, and reports using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Conduct site investigations, surveys, and material testing to gather data and ensure project feasibility and quality.
- Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Perform quality control checks on materials, workmanship, and project progress.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and as-built drawings.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during construction and provide practical solutions.
- Interpret engineering plans, specifications, and building codes.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to problem-solving and decision-making processes.
Required Skills
- National Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience as a Civil Engineering Technician in a construction or consulting environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid South African driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) as a Candidate Engineering Technician.
- Experience with other relevant software like Revit, MS Project, or P6.
- Experience working on projects within the Northern Cape region.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
- First Aid certification.
