Job Description
RCL FOODS is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Quality Control Inspector to join our dynamic team in Heidelberg, Gauteng. This vital role operates on a hybrid model, balancing essential on-site inspections and data collection with remote analysis and reporting, ensuring our food manufacturing processes and products consistently meet the highest safety and quality standards. As a Quality Control Inspector, you will be at the forefront of our commitment to excellence, playing a critical part in upholding the integrity of our renowned brands. You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring quality control procedures across various stages of production, from raw material inspection to finished product release. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying potential deviations, ensuring compliance with both internal specifications and external regulatory requirements, including HACCP, GMP, and other food safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of incoming raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods according to established specifications and standards.
- Perform sensory, physical, and chemical tests on products and raw materials using specified equipment and procedures.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and operational prerequisite programs (OPRPs) to ensure compliance with HACCP plans.
- Document and report all quality control findings, non-conformances, and deviations accurately and promptly.
- Investigate root causes of quality issues and work with production teams to implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Ensure strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene standards throughout the facility.
- Assist in the development and review of quality control procedures, work instructions, and documentation.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality and food safety protocols.
- Participate in internal and external audits (e.g., FSSC 22000, customer audits).
- Calibrate and maintain QC equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Quality Control role within the food or beverage manufacturing industry.
- Proven understanding and application of HACCP, GMP, and other food safety management systems.
- Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in conducting sensory, physical, and basic chemical tests.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting and collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Knowledge of FSSC 22000 or ISO 9001 standards.
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) or similar QC software.
- First Aid and/or Basic Fire Fighting training.
- Previous experience in a hybrid work model environment.
