Job Description
Ecowatt Electrical Services is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrician to join our dynamic team in Somerset West. This is a unique ‘Hybrid’ role, offering the best of both worlds: hands-on field experience at diverse client sites across the Western Cape and dedicated time for planning, reporting, and administrative duties at our Somerset West office or a designated workshop space. You will be responsible for a wide range of electrical tasks, from new installations and upgrades to routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical installations, maintenance, inspections, and repairs on residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices and diagnostic techniques.
- Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems in accordance with industry standards.
- Inspect electrical components, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and electrical panels.
- Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices and implement effective solutions.
- Repair and replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures safely and efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to all relevant safety codes, regulations (SANS 10142), and company policies.
- Read blueprints or technical diagrams and implement designs accurately for various projects.
- Complete detailed job reports, timesheets, and material requisitions in a timely manner.
- Conduct on-site assessments and provide accurate estimates for electrical projects.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order, ensuring readiness for assignments.
- Collaborate effectively with clients and team members to ensure project specifications are met and exceed expectations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior electricians or apprentices.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions at the office to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Valid Electrician Trade Test Certificate (e.g., Section 13 or 28 issued by a recognized authority)
- Wireman's License or relevant registration with the Department of Labour/ECASA
- Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience as a practicing Electrician
- Proven experience in fault-finding, installation, and maintenance across various electrical systems (single and three-phase)
- Thorough knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and SANS 10142 (Code of Practice for the Wiring of Premises)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and collaborate as part of a team
- Valid South African driver's license (Code B or higher) with a clean driving record
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints
Preferred Qualifications
- N3 or N6 Electrical Engineering qualification
- Experience with solar PV installations and maintenance
- Certificate in single-phase and three-phase installation
- First Aid and Fire Fighting certification
- Experience in client communication and project estimation software
