Knysna Home Care is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Remote Home Care Assistant to join our growing team. While this role is primarily managed and supported remotely, the core function involves providing direct, hands-on care to our valued clients within their own homes across the Knysna region. Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance, within clients' homes.
- Administer medication reminders and assist with the accurate documentation of dosage and time.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients.
- Offer companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities, fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere.
- Monitor and report any changes in clients' physical, mental, or emotional condition to the remote care coordination team.
- Maintain accurate and timely digital records of care provided, observations, and client progress.
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and the remote care team, ensuring seamless care delivery.
- Adhere strictly to care plans, safety protocols, and company policies, utilising remote guidance and training.
- Participate in remote team meetings and training sessions to continuously enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Home Care Assistant or similar role (minimum 1 year).
- Exceptional empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to perform duties independently and reliably.
- Proficiency in basic digital communication tools (e.g., video calls, mobile apps for reporting).
- Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple client visits and remote tasks.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification in home health care, caregiving, or nursing assistant.
- Experience working with clients with specific conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's, or mobility challenges.
- Proficiency in additional local languages (e.g., Afrikaans, Xhosa).
- Previous experience in a role with remote management or coordination.
