Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and meticulously oversee all seed production activities, including strategic planting, precise irrigation, optimal fertilization, effective pest and disease control, and efficient harvesting.
- Implement and rigorously monitor strict quality control measures to ensure seed purity, germination rates, and overall health meet VKB's exacting standards and national agricultural regulations.
- Collaborate closely with research and development (R&D) teams to introduce, evaluate, and scale new, high-performing seed varieties and innovative production technologies.
- Efficiently manage seed inventory, optimize storage conditions, and streamline processing operations to minimize losses and maintain quality.
- Conduct regular and thorough field inspections, collecting comprehensive data to assess crop performance, identify potential issues, and pinpoint areas for continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain detailed production records, reports, and comprehensive documentation for compliance and analytical purposes.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations governing agricultural practices.
- Provide expert technical guidance and practical support to field staff, contract growers, and external partners.
- Optimize production costs without compromising on quality or yield targets, ensuring sustainable and profitable operations.

Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Breeding, or a closely related agricultural field.
- Minimum of 4 years (48 months) of hands-on experience in commercial seed production or a related agricultural role.
- Profound understanding of plant biology, genetics, crop physiology, and integrated crop protection principles.
- Proficiency in field operations, including the operation and maintenance of planting, cultivation, and harvesting equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to implement, manage, and audit comprehensive quality assurance programs.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decisive decision-making skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with effective interpersonal abilities.
- Valid South African driver's license.
