Job Description

Are you a highly skilled Maintenance Technician with a knack for remote diagnostics and a passion for operational excellence? Shatterprufe is seeking an innovative and proactive Remote Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. While the traditional maintenance role is often hands-on, this unique opportunity focuses on leveraging technology to monitor, diagnose, and coordinate maintenance activities for our geographically dispersed assets and operational sites from a remote setting.

In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of our complex machinery and infrastructure through advanced remote monitoring systems, data analysis, and expert coordination. You will provide critical technical support, troubleshoot issues remotely, and plan comprehensive maintenance schedules without needing to be physically present at a single site. This position requires a keen analytical mind, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills to liaise effectively with on-site teams, external vendors, and management. You will be a key player in optimizing equipment uptime, implementing preventative maintenance strategies, and enhancing overall operational reliability. If you thrive in a challenging, technology-driven environment and are looking for a role that redefines maintenance, we encourage you to apply. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a flexible, remote capacity, contributing significantly to our operational efficiency and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor equipment performance and system health remotely using SCADA systems, IoT platforms, and other diagnostic tools.

  • Provide remote technical guidance and support to on-site technicians and operational staff during repair and maintenance activities.
  • Analyze historical data and maintenance logs to identify trends, potential failures, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage and maintain accurate digital records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and IT teams to implement system upgrades and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Assist in the procurement of spare parts and maintain inventory records for critical components.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintenance guidelines.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements in all maintenance operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role, with a strong emphasis on remote diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in using SCADA systems, CMMS software, and other remote monitoring tools.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote setting.
  • Valid driver's license (for potential occasional site visits, though primarily remote).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant Trade Certificate (e.g., Fitter, Electrician, Millwright) or a National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial).
  • Experience with industrial automation and control systems (PLCs, HMIs).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Previous experience in the automotive or glass manufacturing industry.
  • Certification in specific maintenance technologies or software platforms.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance bonuses.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness programs.
  • Generous paid time off and public holidays.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training.
