We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chartered Accountant to join our dynamic Investment Banking division in Johannesburg. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage and oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of financial reports.
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, variance analysis, and forecasting to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation (corporate tax, VAT, etc.) and liaise with tax authorities as required.
- Develop and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Liaise with external auditors, preparing audit schedules and responding to audit queries efficiently.
- Provide financial insights and support to business units, assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the finance function.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations, implementing necessary adjustments promptly.
- Contribute to special projects and ad-hoc financial assignments as required by senior management.
Required Skills
- Chartered Accountant (CA) designation essential (e.g., SAICA, ACCA, ICAEW).
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in a finance role, preferably within investment banking, financial services, or a large corporate environment.
- Profound knowledge of IFRS and strong financial reporting skills.
- Demonstrated experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Excellent understanding of South African tax legislation.
- Proficiency in financial modelling and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Big Four accounting firm.
- Experience with financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Postgraduate qualification in finance, business, or a related field (e.g., CFA, MBA).
