We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Welder to join our dynamic maintenance and fabrication team in Harare. This critical role involves performing diverse welding and fabrication tasks essential for the continuous and safe operation of our mining and smelting facilities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the repair, maintenance, and construction of metal structures, machinery components, and pipeline systems. This position demands a meticulous approach to work, a strong understanding of various welding techniques, and an unwavering commitment to safety standards. You will be expected to interpret technical drawings and blueprints, perform quality checks on your work, and operate a range of welding and cutting equipment with precision. Key Responsibilities
- Perform various welding processes including ARC, TIG, and MIG welding on different types of metals (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron).
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to determine appropriate welding techniques and sequences.
- Fabricate, repair, and maintain metal structures, pipework, and equipment components according to specifications and safety standards.
- Operate and maintain welding machines, cutting equipment (e.g., plasma cutters, oxy-acetylene torches), and other related tools safely and efficiently.
- Inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws and ensure compliance with quality standards and structural integrity.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety regulations, policies, and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to complete projects on time and to required specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage of materials and tools.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior welders or apprentices as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven proficiency in ARC, TIG, and MIG welding techniques.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Strong knowledge of various metal properties and their welding characteristics.
- Demonstrable experience with industrial welding equipment, including setup and troubleshooting.
- Excellent understanding and strict adherence to safety protocols in an industrial environment.
- High level of precision and attention to detail in all welding and fabrication tasks.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in demanding industrial conditions, including confined spaces and elevated heights.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid trade certification or equivalent qualification in Welding.
