As a Microfinance Loan Officer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of loan management, from proactive client outreach and meticulous needs assessment to loan application processing, disbursement, and diligent recovery. Your daily work will involve conducting thorough due diligence, assessing creditworthiness, and providing personalized financial advice to our diverse client base. You will build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted partner who understands their unique challenges and aspirations. Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify, recruit, and orient new potential micro-entrepreneur clients within target communities.
- Conduct thorough client needs assessments and credit evaluations to determine eligibility for various loan products.
- Process loan applications accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all bank policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage a growing portfolio of loans, monitoring client performance and ensuring timely repayments.
- Provide financial literacy training and business advisory support to clients to enhance their capacity and loan utilization.
- Conduct regular field visits to clients' businesses and homes to assess their operations, verify information, and provide ongoing support.
- Ensure adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and relevant banking laws and regulations.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports on loan portfolio performance, client interactions, and market insights.
- Actively participate in loan recovery efforts for delinquent accounts, following established protocols.
- Collaborate with branch management and other team members to achieve branch targets and strategic objectives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience of at least 2 years in microfinance, banking, or community development.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to assess creditworthiness.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Kinyarwanda.
- High degree of integrity, ethical conduct, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work independently in the field and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a sales or customer relations role, particularly in a rural setting.
- Knowledge of local Rwandan markets and micro-enterprise dynamics.
- Familiarity with banking software or core banking systems.
- Valid motorcycle driving license.
